The History of the Doberman Pinscher

Did you know Doberman Pinschers were originally bred to help protect a tax collector? The history is fascinating. It’s so crazy, we couldn’t leave without mentioning this.

Today Doberman Pinschers have become one of the most popular dog breeds in the world. Strong, regal and highly intelligent, Dobermans can trace their roots back to the 19th century when German tax collector Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann created a dog breed designed to protect him during his collections.

He used a mix of many different breeds, including the Great Dane, the Greyhound, the German Shorthaired Pointer, the Rottweiler and others.
