The History of the Doberman Pinscher

Did you know Doberman Pinschers were originally bred to help protect a tax collector? The history is fascinating. It’s so crazy, we couldn’t leave without mentioning this.

Today Doberman Pinschers have become one of the most popular dog breeds in the world. Strong, regal and highly intelligent, Dobermans can trace their roots back to the 19th century when German tax collector Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann created a dog breed designed to protect him during his collections.

He used a mix of many different breeds, including the Great Dane, the Greyhound, the German Shorthaired Pointer, the Rottweiler and others.

My sweet red doby was named Xavier. She was the smartest girl. More polite than most peoples kids. So protective of me and kind to others. She had great intuition about people and could tell before I could that there was just something not quite right about certain individuals. She will always be missed. And I know when it’s my time to leave this world she will be there to meet me.

I’ve had 3 dobies over the years. My first one was Brandy in the ”70”s, Bella in the 2003, and I have Sushi since 2009, he’s a big Love Bug. He’s definitely showing his old age. I hope he stays with me as long as he can. I’m preparing myself for the time the Rainbow Bridge comes calling.

I have had 2 Dobies. Bella, a beautiful large red female, my angel who passed at 6 1/2 yrs due to DCM. I now have my 3 yr old black & rust little girl, Lagertha. She is the December 2020 calendar girl in Doberman US 2020 Calendars. They are Love Dogs those Dobies.

I have a 2yo male European Doberman weighing in at 129lbs, his name is Hidalgo (gentleman in Spanish). Smartest dog I’ve ever encountered, except he just can’t comprehend hes bigger and heavier than me.
Love him to death save for the times he thinks I’m a jungle gym. Im usually sporting 2-3 black n blues. I love how he stands in front to protect me from every single thing, even the heat from the coal stove while I’m trying to load it…could never have imagined such a protector. Love my Gentleman.
