A national dog of Portugal, this breed originated from the ancient hounds that made their way to Iberian Peninsula with traders from the East more than 3,000 years ago. This primitive breed further adapted to the country’s climate and terrain and its purpose as a small hunting dog, slowly transforming into the breed of today.
The Portuguese Podengo Pequeno is playful and lively pet who loves to charm his owners. Weighing 9-13 pounds, this little guy is muscular and agile with trademark erect ears, wiry fur and a hooked tail.
