Finnish Lapphund Information
The Finnish Lapphund is built for hard work in cold temperatures. Originally, the breed helped members of the Sami tribe in Finland, Sweden and part of Russia. Around 1940, a concentrated effort was made to expand the reach of the breed, and it has been slowly gaining traction.
As a pet, the Finnish Lapphund is agile and alert. At home he’s friendly and calm (most of the time); around strangers, however, he can be a bit reserved. When you take one look at his sweet, Nordic-looking face and fluffy fur coat, you’ll be smitten!
