Boykin Spaniel Information
The Boykin possesses all the characteristics we’ve come to know and love about Spaniels: a happy, friendly personality; an eagerness to please; the ability to learn quickly; and so much love and joy. Larger than the Cocker Spaniel but more compact than Springers, the Boykin stands out for his prominent, dangling ears and gorgeous rich brown coat.
The breed was created by South Carolina hunters during the early 1900s as the ideal dog for hunting wild turkeys in the swamps. In later ears he adapted to fields and marshes, making him quite the versatile hunter. Even if you don’t hunt, you’ll want to consider the Boykin Spaniel. The breed is easy to train, gets along great with other pets and plays with children better than you could ever imagine.
