Boston Terrier Information

Made in the USA, the Boston Terrier was created in the United States by crossing an English Bulldog and White English Terrier. Compact and weighing no more than 25 pounds, this breed is known for having a short muzzle, pointy ears, and a “tuxedo” coat made of white and black, brindle or seal.

Funny and friendly, the Boston Terrier is a popular choice these days. It is currently the 23rd most popular breed in the United States. You can see why when you look into his warm eyes and get to know his friendly, charming personality. This dog is also great with kids and other pets and is easy to train.

Boston Terrier Training and Temperament

Boston Terrier training is a breeze. He is eager to please and very smart, so you will have no trouble working with him. Just be sure to start him out early so he can be socialized and get a good foundation for training.

Regarding temperament, this breed is excellent with kids and other pets, but he sometimes likes to play rough. Therefore, you will want to keep an eye on him when he is playing with your other pets or children, especially if they are smaller than he is.

Terrier Exercise

The Boston Terrier is a moderately active breed. He will need about 30 minutes of exercise per day, and he will get plenty of that with a daily walk around the block. If you want to play with him more often, you can take him to the dog park or throw a ball in your backyard. Don’t run him in the heat for too long – his short muzzle makes it easy for him to overheat.

Grooming

Grooming this breed is an absolute breeze because he has such a short coat that doesn’t shed very much on its own. You will only need to brush his coat once or twice weekly, and you should bathe him only when necessary – this dog is not known for being very stinky! These guys are also known for having brown teeth, so be sure to brush those once in a while.
